National Geographic And First Texas To Introduce Line Of Night-Vision Monoculars And Binoculars

High-Performance Night-Vision Collection to Debut This Month

January 28, 2005

WASHINGTON (Jan. 28, 2005)–National Geographic, the name synonymous with outdoor adventure, travel and exploration, has entered into a new licensing agreement with Night Owl Optics Night Vision® for an innovative, high-performance line of Generation 1 and 2 NGS night-vision monoculars and binoculars. The collection will debut in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the Outdoor Retailer Show Jan. 30 to Feb. 2.

The collection, as with all National Geographic products and gear, is inspired by more than a century of expedition and exploration. The collection consists of nine innovative optical products. The NGS Explorer G2™ is the Generation 2 model monocular and the line’s most technologically refined model. Packed with innovative features, it houses a state-of-the-art Generation 2 intensifier tube with micro-channel plate for superior brightness, allowing for an extraordinarily clear and long range of view up to 2,300 feet.

The NGS Discovery™ line of products comprises the most ergonomic and stylish night-vision monoculars in the market. The two Discovery models are small in frame but comfortable to use, powerful in infrared capacity and come with 3X and 5X image magnification lenses.

The NGS Explorer™ product line is more traditional in design, with excellent performance, featuring a rubber-coated body, steel stringer construction for durability and unsurpassed resolution for higher quality distant visibility.

The NGS Explorer Marine™ series, designed for water environments, boasts a completely waterproof design that can be utilized in extreme weather conditions often faced during nautical use. Whether you’re pulling into a harbor after hours or dropping a hook in a new cove, this Night Vision unit can help keep you out of danger.

The NGS Explorer™ Binocular delivers portability and premium performance in an attractive body with extra comfortable handling. The compact shell houses two high-performing intensifier tubes. Integrated with each unit is Night Owl’s refined and powerful infrared illuminator, which provides clear and bright viewing in complete darkness. The Explorer Series binoculars give Generation 2 performance with comfort, ease of use and durability.

National Geographic’s signature black and yellow colors are carried throughout the product line. Accessories such as a carrying case (with lanyard for comfort) feature an outdoor, rugged look and feel to complement the line.
