MALAGA, Spain (22 March 2010)—Visitors can experience a new and exciting way to explore the world at National Geographic’s first global retail store in Spain. Located within Malaga Airport’s newly constructed T3 Terminal, the recently opened 120-square-meter store will draw on National Geographic’s 122-year heritage of inspiring people to care about the planet as it features products and services in a constantly evolving and culturally inspired setting.
The Malaga store is the third National Geographic store to open outside the United States since 2008. The London store (1,800 square meters) is located on Regent Street, in the heart of London’s most elite shopping district. The Singapore store (1,600 square meters) is situated in VivoCity, the country’s largest shopping mall. Additional National Geographic Store locations are planned for this year.
More than a traditional retail environment, the National Geographic Malaga store will welcome visitors with compelling, interactive visual displays and state-of-the-art designs intended to stimulate, educate and inspire shoppers to celebrate global cultures. The airport store will offer items designed for the rigors of adventures and exploration, from casual travel gear to expedition-quality apparel, including hi-tech waterproof bags and innovative, multi-layered apparel suitable for diverse climates and activities.
The store will offer travelers a wide selection of National Geographic products, including its award-winning magazines, books and DVDs, as well as newly created products and unique, hand¬crafted items made by artisans from across the globe. Key product lines include apparel, accessories, books, footwear, home accessories, luggage, music, stationery, sunglasses, toys and watches.
National Geographic’s net proceeds support the Society’s exploration, conservation, research and education programmes.
