WASHINGTON (April 13, 2011)—National Geographic Kids Entertainment (NGKE) announced today additional sales of its three signature kids TV series “Are We There Yet? World Adventure,” “Mama Mirabelle’s Home Movies” and “Toot & Puddle.”
“Are We There Yet? World Adventure” has been picked up in a new deal with Turkey’s Turkuvaz Media Group for ATV and the new Minika kids TV channel, and with Korea Skylife and Estonia’s ETV. This boosts international market penetration to 43 countries.
New and renewed deals are confirmed for “Mama Mirabelle’s Home Movies,” the animated series for preschoolers. BBC Worldwide has taken the series for its CBeebies channel feeds in Africa and Asia, and there are renewal deals with PBS in the United States, Disney Junior in Australia and New Zealand, and Canal Plus in Poland. “Mama Mirabelle” currently appears in more than 120 markets globally.
“Toot & Puddle,” NGKE’s animated series for preschoolers, currently airing in more than 60 countries around the world, has been picked up in Switzerland by RTS.
Debbie Back, vice president, worldwide sales, for NGKE, said, “We’re thrilled to expand the reach for all of our key series for kids in 2011, supporting National Geographic’s mission to inspire people to care about the planet. These three signature series offer inspirational moments for kids of all ages to experience exploration through TV and the Internet.”
“Are We There Yet? World Adventure” is a kids global adventure program hosted by real sibling duos who share their explorations through journal writing, travel logs and on-location chatter. New episodes will feature four new sibling pairs as they travel to Canada, Israel, Hungary, United States, Japan, Mongolia, Ecuador, Jordan and Brazil, where the kids will mark a milestone for the series in its quest to travel to the New Seven Wonders of the World.
“Are We There Yet? World Adventure” is a Sinking Ship Entertainment production produced in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Treehouse TV and NGKE. NGKE is the U.S. and international distributor for the series.
“Mama Mirabelle’s Home Movies,” an NGKE and King Rollo Films production in partnership with CBeebies in the United Kingdom, combines an animated world that preschoolers want to explore with stunning wildlife movies from the National Geographic and BBC’s award-winning archives. Launched in the United States in September 2007 on PBS KIDS, the series received numerous accolades during its first season, including an Emmy Award nomination and a 2008 Parents’ Choice Award. Family Fun magazine calls the series’ live-action elements “spectacular”; Common Sense Media says the series “brings home important life lessons.”
“Toot & Puddle,” a Mercury Filmworks production in partnership with NGKE, is an entertaining, heartwarming preschool series based on the acclaimed series of kids books by author Holly Hobbie, about two adventurous piglet pals. Toot is the world traveler and Puddle is the backyard explorer. Together they go on journeys near and far.
