WASHINGTON (Aug. 24, 2011)—National Geographic marks the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks by releasing a new four-disc commemorative set of 9/11-themed programming, featuring eight hours of programming that adds new insights and perspective on the tragic events that unfolded that day. “Remembering 9/11: 10 Year Commemorative Collection” will be available Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, following a week of 9/11-themed programming on National Geographic Channel.

For the first time, National Geographic brings together in one set the critically acclaimed, three-hour documentary “Inside 9/11” plus “Giuliani’s 9/11,” “Witness 9/11” and the new program “9/11: Where Were You?”
“9/11: Where Were You?”, premiering on National Geographic Channel on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, captures the life-and-death decisions people made amid the chaos of the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath. These decisions affected not only individual lives but often the lives of others in unexpected and profound ways. We meet the Federal Aviation Administration national operations manager who gave the unprecedented order to ground all commercial air traffic in the United States; a policeman who rushed to the scene of the World Trade Center; the Pentagon staff sergeant who repeatedly raced back into burning wreckage to pull people out; and the paramedic who was called to a smoldering field in Shanksville, Pa., only to find that there was no one to be rescued. “Inside 9/11” was the first documentary to provide a comprehensive account of the events and to shed light on the genesis of the 9/11 attacks: from the earliest stage of terrorist assembly to the breakdowns in the CIA, the FBI and airport security.
In “Giuliani’s 9/11,” former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani recounts the day he was confronted by the assault on U.S. territory and was faced with leading a city struck by tragedy back from the brink. Having secured unique access, National Geographic takes Giuliani back to moments and places indelibly marked by horror and heroism in this story of his personal campaign to save lives, build calm, maintain leadership and restore hope to a fallen city.
In “Witness: DC 9/11,” National Geographic reconstructs the attack on the nation’s capital moment by moment entirely through home video; fire, rescue and police footage; and news coverage. Footage from the Pentagon crash site taken shortly after impact captures a raw view of the devastating aftermath. Cameras throughout the city document the chaotic evacuation from the Capitol and White House as air traffic controllers grapple with the potential of another hijacked plane targeting the White House.
