WASHINGTON (Feb. 23, 2012)—The third edition of National Geographic Books’ THE 10 BEST OF EVERYTHING: An Ultimate Guide for Travelers (ISBN 978-1-4262-0867-6; on sale April 3, 2012; trade paperback; $21.95) is as extravagantly entertaining and irresistible as the bestselling previous editions of this deluxe dream guide for discerning travelers — and for wishful readers along for the ride.
This blue-chip bible for globe-trotting connoisseurs is completely revised and updated for 2012. In addition to “top 10” lists in dozens of categories and a 21st-century Grand Tour to 20 fabulous places and experiences, award-winning authors Nathaniel and Andrew Lande have included their latest discoveries from around the world in this third edition.
The book offers four brand-new “top 10” lists — Ten Best Spas, Ten Best Cultural Attractions, Ten Best Irresistible Restaurants and Ten Best Historic Homes — and dispatches from 10 new cities. Amazing and amusing personal accounts called “snapshots” appear throughout the volume — from a chance encounter with Princess Diana in a London theater royal box to the gift of a chair from the Bolshoi.
Studded with colorful illustrations, cosmopolitan sidebars, savvy tips and trip narratives — many contributed by travel experts and celebrities — this sophisticated book awakens yearnings for exotic travel in world explorers and armchair journeyers alike.
Reviews of previous editions called this book one “for those who fantasize or save for a big splurge” (Atlanta Journal Constitiution), and “the ultimate experiences the world has to offer” (New York Daily News). The book showcases the best of the best — whether it’s information about the best airlines, the best opera houses, the best golf courses, the best perfumes or the best mattresses. If you want to relax, you’ll find a guide to top boutique hotels in Europe, but if you just need to find the best hamburger in New York City, you’ll find that, too.
