FRANKFURT, Germany (Oct. 11, 2012)—In its continuing partnership with Rovio, National Geographic Kids is publishing a new book, ANGRY BIRDS PLAYGROUND: ANIMALS (National Geographic Children’s Books; ISBN 978-1-4263-1266-3; on sale Oct. 23, 2012; $14.95 hardcover). This around-the-world habitat adventure is the companion volume to Rovio Learning’s groundbreaking new series of preschool/early-learning program products, “Angry Birds Playground.” The book and learning program are created in consultation with educators and feature curriculum exercises to build basic skills.
ANGRY BIRDS PLAYGROUND: ANIMALS provides a fun way to learn about the world’s habitats, from climate to the types of animals living there. Readers will fly with their favorite Angry Birds characters through the rain forest, over the desert and into the oceans in search of their eggs stolen by pesky pigs.
Rovio Learning’s ”Angry Birds Playground” line exemplifies the concept of casual learning by integrating educational content into fun products; kids won’t even know they are learning while playing and reading. The line will include National Geographic Kids books and other products to be announced.
“National Geographic is pleased to partner with Rovio Learning to offer children’s books. ‘Angry Birds Playground’ is a fantastic concept that builds on the success of Angry Birds games and capitalizes on National Geographic’s expertise in quality children’s books to deliver an educational line of fun products that kids will want to play with,” said Jennifer Emmett, National Geographic’s editorial director for Children’s Books. “Our first book, ANGRY BIRDS PLAYGROUND: ANIMALS, with its fun facts and thrilling pictures of animals, is the perfect start for a line of learning titles.”
The new products will be unveiled at the FrankfurtBookFair on Oct. 11, 2012. The subjects covered by the preschool and kindergarden line include shapes and colors, math, logical thinking and nature. To find out more, visit: http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/kids/shop/.
