Hector Sierra is senior vice president and general manager of National Geographic’s Books and Maps divisions. He leads the strategic business development of these print and digital product groups, and oversees and manages the production, marketing, sales and operations functions of these areas.
Sierra, who is fluent in English and Spanish, has been with National Geographic 16 years and has a 25-year career in publishing. Prior to National Geographic, he worked at Simon & Schuster in their trade and audio divisions, and at John Wiley with their scientific and technical books and journals. He is a member of the management advisory boards of CDS Global, a multinational company that provides business outsourcing and customer data management to various industries, and Penguin Random House Publisher Services, a business that provides sales and distribution services to independent publishers.
Sierra holds an MBA from Pace University, New York, with a concentration in finance and international business.
