THOMAS A. (TONY) SABLO

Senior Vice President, Human Resources, National Geographic Society


Tony Sabló is the senior vice president of human resources and is responsible for providing a full range of human resource services throughout the National Geographic Society.

Prior to joining National Geographic on Sept. 14, 1998, Sabló was the director of human resources and organizational effectiveness for Time Life Inc. From 1982 to 1998 he held a number of progressively responsible positions in human resources with Time Warner Cable and Time Life Inc., wholly owned subsidiaries of Time Warner. His specialization in this field includes leadership and management development, managing organizational change, performance management counseling, organizational problem solving and employee relations.

Immediately before joining National Geographic, Sabló was the director of human resources and organizational effectiveness for Time Life Inc. He began his career in human resources in Denver, Colo., in 1982, working as a staff effectiveness specialist for the Central Bank of Denver.

Born in Panamá City, Panamá, Nov. 24, 1954, Sabló received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and a Master of Arts from the University of Denver. In May 1997, Sabló earned a doctoral degree in education with specialization in human resource development from the George Washington University, where he serves periodically as assistant professor in the master's degree program of the Graduate School of Education and Human Development. His dissertation research dealt with organizational culture and change.

Sabló resides in Northern Virginia.
