TEN FINALISTS QUALIFY FOR 2008 NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC BEE TITLE

WHO/WHAT:The preliminary round of the 20th annual National Geographic Bee was held today, Tuesday, May 20. Ten finalists, from a field of 55 state-level winners, will compete in the May 21 final round to be held at the National Geographic Society in Washington, D.C.

The 10 finalists are:

-Names and state in alphabetical state order

  • Hunter Bledsoe, Alabama
  • Nikhil Desai, California
  • Benjamin Geyer, District of Columbia
  • Erik Troske, Indiana
  • William Lee, Massachusetts
  • Isaac Pasley, Missouri
  • Joseph Perea, Montana
  • Akshay Rajagopal, Nebraska
  • Milan Sandhu, New Hampshire
  • Taylor Morris, North Carolina


WHEN/WHERE:Wednesday, May 21
Doors open to the media 8:15 a.m. ET
Doors close 9:30 a.m. ET
Competition 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET
