WASHINGTON (March 18, 2010)— Pacific Coast Lighting, one of the largest manufacturers of decorative lighting in the United States, announced today the expansion of its National Geographic Home Collection. The National Geographic Outdoor Lighting Collection is an exciting new line of lighting for use around walkways, entry areas, garden patios and driveways, available from June 1, 2010, to key retailers in a wide variety of designs and finishes.
“National Geographic has a long-term commitment to preserving the world around us,” said Krista Newberry, vice president of National Geographic Licensing. “This innovative collection provides consumers with a creative and practical way to reduce their impact on the environment while also saving on electric bills.”
“Pacific Coast Lighting is pleased to be able to create these innovative products that combine technologies to create extremely energy-efficient products that meet the different needs of our customers,” said Clark Linstone, president of Pacific Coast Lighting.
The National Geographic Outdoor Lighting Collection features five distinctive designs, each with a CFL bulb for superior energy efficiency and long bulb life. Products range from $100 to $200:
Lake View — Clean contemporary designs with classic Mission lines and profile. Each features genuine slate on the wall back plate, etched opal glass and an oil-rubbed bronze finish. Models include two sizes of wall lights for porch or entry areas.
Walnut Grove — Arts and Crafts-inspired designs that are as energy efficient as they are stylish. Available models include outdoor wall lights (two sizes), post mount light and a hanging outdoor light. All Walnut Grove models feature frosted linen glass and beautiful oil-rubbed bronze finish. The wall lights also include genuine slate wall back plates.
Mission Glen — Combines modern energy efficiency with classic Mission design elements. Beautiful style elements include cream frosted textured glass, oil-rubbed bronze finish and sophisticated profiles. Four models available include a post mount light, hanging outdoor light and wall light.
Elm Tree — Contemporary, elegant and energy efficient, this outdoor wall light is also Dark Sky compliant. Dark Sky outdoor lights are designed to minimize light spill upwards and to the sides, directing the majority of the light throw towards the ground. Dark Sky-compliant fixtures minimize light pollution of the nighttime sky, yet still offer safety and security for porch and patio areas. This design features a stylish oil-rubbed bronze finish and a genuine slate rock wall plate.
River View — This outdoor wall light combines natural stone elements with a Mission-influenced line and profile. The design features a genuine slate wall plate, cream frosted textured glass and an oil-rubbed bronze finish.
Hybrid — These combine solar-powered LED and CFL bulbs for maximum energy efficiency and energy conservation. Designs are available as outdoor wall lights, hanging lamps and post- mounted lights for use around walkways, entry areas, garden patios and driveways.
National Geographic’s net proceeds support vital exploration, education, conservation, research and education programs.
