SINGAPORE (April 15, 2010)—The National Geographic Singapore Store, recently named “Best New Entrant of the Year”*, opened a new Café today inside the National Geographic Store in VivoCity, Singapore.
The National Geographic Singapore Store Café serves pinchos, a tradition that originated in Spain. Consisting of miniature offerings, pinchos offer a range of fresh and carefully sourced ingredients; they encourage food to be shared and are a great alternative to the modern urban diet. Award-winning Spanish chef Miguel Espinosa has designed the menu to incorporate healthy ingredients with great flavours, a Mediterranean tradition that will encourage visitors to relax and savour as they are transported on a culinary tour of the globe. For example, visitors to the Café have the opportunity to relax with a glass of La Vendimia Rioja and enjoy a wild mushroom tortilla pincho or a Wagyu “mini” burger with caramelized onion and crispy chips.
The stylish but relaxed atmosphere comfortably seats 80 guests in 150 square meters, and mixes the essence of the finest fair trade coffees from Colombia, Brazil and Jamaica with a variety of teas from India and China.
While visitors are discovering new places through their taste buds, they can relax in the Café’s eclectic surroundings, outfitted with tabletop items and unique, antique furniture pieces, which are also available for purchase.
The National Geographic Café brings together a world of scents, tastes and experiences in original dishes, aromatic cups of tea and coffee, and exotic furniture and decor, creating the perfect atmosphere for travelling to another part of the globe without ever leaving VivoCity.
The Café is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, so visitors can take the time to enjoy a fine cup of coffee with friends or select from the extensive wine list and relax with new acquaintances. For those pressed for time, take-away service is available.
