WASHINGTON (Feb. 28, 2011)—National Geographic announces a unique apparel assortment available exclusively on ShopNBC to draw attention to the plight of big cats across the world, which are disappearing at an alarming rate.
“The Last Lions” and “Cause an Uproar” t-shirts and hoodies developed by National Geographic apparel licensee Greater Clothing Company will premiere Tuesday, March 1, at 6 p.m. (EST) on ShopNBC, a premium interactive retailer via TV, online and mobile. The exclusive collection is inspired by the powerful images of survival and a mother lion’s love for her cubs, as depicted in Dereck and Beverly Joubert’s new film, “The Last Lions,” now showing in theaters nationwide. The Jouberts will be appearing on ShopNBC’s show “National Geographic — The Last Lions” to discuss their film and present the new apparel line.
“The Last Lions” and “Cause an Uproar” apparel items, available on ShopNBC.com (www.ShopNBC.com/), are priced from $17 to $59. Sales proceeds go to support National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative, which is dedicated to halting the decline of big cats through on-the-ground conservation projects and education.
“The Last Lions”
From the celebrated wildlife filmmakers Dereck and Beverly Joubert comes a stunning new feature film, as told by Jeremy Irons. “The Last Lions” chronicles the adventures of a lioness that has been ostracized by the ruling pride and forced by fire to flee an island with her three cubs, testing her power, stamina and instinct as she and her cubs face each challenge that comes their way in this new environment.
