SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – July 12, 2011 – Fotopedia and National Geographic Traveler magazine today announced that they are collaborating again to introduce “Above France,” a new app that provides an aerial grand tour of the country. This is the second app jointly launched by National Geographic Traveler and Fotopedia — the first was “Dreams of Burma” last month.
With this new app, anyone with an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch can explore an endless collection of awe-inspiring French vistas, from l’Aiguille du Midi to the Chateau d’Yquem, including spectacular abbeys, beaches, bridges, castles, cliffs, fortifications, geometric landscapes, harbors, islands, lakes, lighthouses, mountains, rivers, quaint villages, waterfalls and windmills.
Frank Mulliez, a helicopter pilot and the professional photographer behind the app, takes users to thousands of breathtaking, remote and typically inaccessible locales to experience France’s splendor from the air.
“This is France from the air. It’s all here‚ from Mont Blanc to the historic abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, the castles of the Loire Valley and the rooftops of Paris. This is France like you haven’t seen it — for you to discover without leaving the ground,” said Keith Bellows, editor-in-chief of National Geographic Traveler.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with National Geographic Traveler again,” added Jean Marie Hullot, CEO of Fotopedia. “If you think that France is beautiful, wait until you see this app. It’s a love letter written with a camera and a helicopter. We are grateful that Frank Mulliez decided to share his extraordinary adventures with us in this brand new app.”
